Daniel owned several bakeries over the course of many years. His good friend, Carl Kelley (more like an uncle), owned the original Madam Jay’s Pastries Est. in 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, and when Carl became ill, Daniel bought the business. Daniel grew the business to the point that he was baking and decorating up to ten or more wedding cakes most weeks. Additionally, he and his associates were baking two hundred other types of celebration cakes weekly and Dan also decorated cookies and pastries. Daniel also expanded the “scratch” bakery brand and continued operating the business along with his graphics and art design business. He designed the bakery logo images. The business was sold and finally closed many years ago.
